The Kanchenjunga region offers some of the best trekking and exploring unspoiled and cultural in Nepal. the journey began in the warm middle hills the whole hillside of terraces and picturesque village and work into the high alpine regions with the valley that just keeps going.it is a less crowded region to explore around the Nepali Himalaya than other regions. Mount Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain on the planet but nothing like Everest and K2. By crossing the stunning Nango La pass over to the Olangchung Gola, the last village then climbs over the Lumba Samba rang, with a panoramic view of Everest and Makalu, to tandem, the most remote village in the eastern part of Nepal.
Literally, Kanchenjunga means Crystal clear in the Nepali language. Geographically the Kanchenjunga is the second-highest mountain in Nepal and the third-highest on the planet after K2 in Pakistan. The Kanchenjunga mountain is situated in the northeastern part of Nepal border between India and China. This delightful area offers the brilliant show of flowering glory of Nepali national flowers Rhododendrons, Orchids, Lilies, primula, and, many other flowers. The Kanchenjunga Conservation Area is situated in the area of 2035 Square kilometers. this area is very rich in diversity of wildlife including Snow leopard, Mountain Goat, Himalayan black deer, Musk deer, Red panda, Lopophoras Pheasant, Red-bullied blue magpies, and shy drongo are the major birds found here. The local culture, people, and lifestyle, as well as the Kanchenjunga Glacier, are the most famous attractions of the Kanchenjunga Region.
The trails start from northwards to Ghumsa from where we can climb up to the Kanchenjunga Base Camp(5143 Meters). Kanchenjunga Trekking Permit
To get the Permit for the Kanchenjunga region you will need to obtain a special restricted area permit. It will cost 10$ USD per person per week which will be issued in Kathmandu at the Immigration Department before departing, as well as you will need to buy another permit called the Kanchenjunga Conservation area Permit minimum for two weeks which you must apply through a guide and government registered agency. Kanchenjunga Trek Itinerary
There is three different Base Camp of Mount Kanchenjunga where you can trek to Kanchenjunga Base Camp, Kanchenjunga South Base Camp, and Kanchenjunga Circuit trek which covers together with the base camp wise or another side. Kanchenjunga Base Camp trek and Getting There
Taplejung is the main gateway to start the Kanchenjunga trek. where we can take a flight from Kathmandu to Suketar and Hike down to the Taplejung Village. There are many different local airlines like Goma Air, Tara Air, and Nepal Airlines which make weekly flights. Normally the weight limits are 20Kg for foreigners and 15 Kg for Local(Nepali) People. There is another airport that is 10 hours far by drive from Taplejung which is called Bhadrapur Airport where they make the daily flight.
Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek Difficulty
Kanchenjunga Base Camp trekking is a fairly Challenging trek. It is the trek with normal tea houses basic however the toilet and bathroom are outside from the rooms well as trekking trails go a bit step up and step down with the changeable elevation day by day. Kanchenjunga Basecamp is the highest elevation of this trek which is situated 5143 meters high.
