Embark on adventurous Gokyo lake Trek 14 Days with us at Adventure White Mountain and explore the beautiful Gokyo village and stunning Gokyo Lakes. Situated on the west side of the Khumbu region, Gokyo Valley is famous for its spectacular beauty and the holy lakes. Gokyo Lakes Trek follows a little less crowded and a little extra-rugged trail. If you are looking for something new in the Everest region, then Gokyo Valley Trek makes a great option. The extensive pastures with yaks grazing, pristine turquoise lakes, fluttering colorful prayer flags, and snow-capped Himalayan mountains create a heavenly view. Gokyo village will welcome you with the panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Cho Oyu, and Mt. Lhotse all the way to Mt. Makalu. To enjoy the best views and acclimatize, you will further hike to Gokyo Ri. And between all of these breathtaking views and serene surroundings, you will be spending time with locals, the people of the mountains who are exclusively living their life away from the bustle of modern cities. The monasteries, stupas, and chortens along the way offer a glimpse of the cultural heritage thriving in these remote villages.

The trail ascends towards the Mong La Pass from Namche Bazar onwards and descends along steep downhill trails to the Dudh Koshi river. You will be trekking through lush forests of oak and rhododendron. The trail passes by frozen waterfalls and remote villages to Dole. Further, the Gokyo Lake Trek route leads to Machherma and ascends to Gokyo valley. The trail climbs up the lateral moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier, and you can eventually see crystal clear lakes.
We also organize a tailor-made Gokyo Valley Trek itinerary and private treks. You can extend the Gokyo valley trekking to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar if you wish. Likewise, Everest Three High Passes Trek is another ultimate trekking route in the Khumbu region. Get in touch with our representative anytime for further queries related to the Gokyo Lake trek cost or Gokyo Trek booking.

Essential Information

An ideal time for Gokyo Valley Trekking

Spring (March to April) and autumn (October to November) is the ideal time of the year to explore Gokyo Valley and its wonders. Even though we all know the weather is unpredictable in the mountains, at least these months have the most stable weather and clear views. The temperature ranges between -5 °C to 15 °C in these two seasons.

Regardless of the season, the mornings and nights are cold. Winter is freezing cold, and the trail gets blocked due to heavy snowfall. And monsoon makes the route slippery and increases the chances of landslides.

Gokyo Lakes Trek difficulty

The 5 to 6 hours of minimum walking duration during the trek and numerous steep ascends and descends makes the Gokyo Valley Trek overall difficult, especially if you are a new trekker. Not only do you have to deal with the remoteness of the region, but also have to adjust to elevation as you approach Gokyo Valley.

Previous trekking experience is not needed for the Gokyo Valley trek, but good physical fitness and stamina are necessary. To prepare your body for the trek, you can exercise, hike, or do activities like jogging, cycling, and swimming. Also, consult your doctor once to know about the altitude sickness before the beginning of the trek.

Mode of transportation during the trek

Our team will pick you up and drop you at the airport as per the itinerary. There will be private vehicles during the tour in Kathmandu valley. And a flight in and out of the starting point of the trek is included in the package cost.

Electricity and Charging Facilities

Villages along the Gokyo Lakes trek route highly rely on solar power, and you may have to pay a few extra bucks to charge your device. Do carry extra batteries or a solar charger for better value.

Sim Card and WiFi

You can get a SIM card in Kathmandu with data to use on the trial. Most of the lodges in Namche Bazar and other villages offer WiFi either free or for a few bucks. The network may not be fast and reliable all the time, whether you use WiFi or cellular data.

Luggage

You will pack all the heavy clothing and equipment for the trek in the duffle bags, which are carried by the porters. You can carry a daypack to have essentials like documents, cash, electronics, snacks, and water with you on the trail. Extra luggage will be left behind in the hotel's locker room for free of cost while trekking.

Child policy

Gokyo Valley Trek is not suitable for underage kids. The terrain is more challenging and remote than the EBC trek. You can get in touch with us to know more in detail about our child policy for Gokyo Trek.

Tipping to crew members

To help you make tipping easy, at the end of the trek, our guide will take care of it. If you like the service provided by the on-field team, then each member of the group can tip ($100 advised, divided among guide and porters) them as a thank you. Likewise, $ 5 tip and $2 tip are suitable for a tour guide and driver respectively.

Personal expenses

Anything you buy out of cost includes is not covered in the package cost. Shopping and drinks are your responsibility. Likewise, an additional stay in Nepal out of the offered Gokyo Valley Trek itinerary is also not ensured by the company.

Insurance, Rescue, Evacuation

Gokyo Valley Trekking explores a remote and isolated part of the Everest region that lacks suitable health care facilities. So in case of an adverse event, you may have to rely on air evacuation to get immediate medical facilities. And without travel insurance, the process becomes lengthy and daunting.

Therefore, we highly recommend you to get well-covered travel insurance that has airlift and medical bills. Similarly, our guides are well trained and can handle any emergency.
