About Kathmandu Valley Tour

Kathmandu Valley is a center of attraction among tourists across the globe as the valley is rich from every aspect from culture to history and art and architecture. Different dynasty ruled the valley in different time period and due to this various culture, traditions and religion nurtured here.

The dynasty with faith in Lord Shiva built the temple of Shiva whereas the follower of Vishnu carved his (Lord Vishnu) image in rock. Similarly, living goddess was worshipped during the time of Malla dynasty which is still in practice. The follower of Buddha built Stupas. The temple of Pashupatinath, Changunarayan, Budanilakantha, Swoyambhunath and Bouddhanath are its typical example.

The valley comprises of six UNESCO listed World Heritage Sites namely Pashupatinath, Swoyambhunath, Bouddhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The valley is a unique spot to witness art and architecture, traditional dances and the many other things. It is a single destination which portrays history, culture and architecture of entire Nepal simultaneously.

Much more interestingly, all of these places are stretched within a radius of 15 km from central Kathmandu. The valley comprises of three districts—Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur—and each district has its own uniqueness.

The best part of the tour is that it unfolds the natural beauty of this Himalayan nation. The tour extends to Nagarkot from where you get view of eight mountain ranges. Here you get chance to acquaint with countryside Nepal.

The real fun begins from today as you will be visiting four UNESCO listed World Heritage Sites located in Kathmandu.

We visit Kathmandu Durbar Square in the beginning. Here you get chance to see century old palace called Hanuman Dhoka Palace. Lord Hanuman (Monkey God) is enshrined at the entrance of the palace and due to it the palace is named after it. The Durbar Square is stretched at an area of five acres. Entire Square is divided into two quadrangles—outer and inner.

The Hanuman Dhoka Palace is covered within inner part wehereas Kumari Ghar, Shiva-Parvati Temple, Kashtamandap, is located at outer part of the vicinity. Living Goddes (Kumari) lives in Kumari Ghar. She is worshipped as female energy and it the system of worshipping her was started many centuries ago when Malla dynasty ruled the Valley.

Before the quake of 25th April, 2015 there were 50 temples in this area and at present there are around 20 such sites including Hanuman Dhoka Palace.

From here we move towards Pashupatinath Temple. Lord Shiva is worshipped here in the form of Linga. It is the greatest Shrine of Hindu. The temple is located on the bank of Bagmati River.

Bouddhanath is another place of our visit today. No any exact record is found regarding the foundation date of Bouddhanath. Some believe that the stupa was built by one of the Kings of Lichhavi dynasty more than 2000 years ago.

The stupa is built in octagonal-mandala structure and is protected by wall from all side. There in the wall you can see 108 depiction of Amitabh Buddha.

From here we move towards Swoyambhunath. It is located in a hillock. It is said that the civilization of Kathmandu Valley started with Swoyambhunath. The literal meaning of Swoyambhunath is self-existing.

Legends say that Lord Buddha visited here and gave sermon to his disciples here.

    Overnight at hotel.

Patan is rich in culture and art and architecture. Newari culture and tradition reached its peak here during Malla dynasty. The stone carvings here and the palaces here speak the reality.

Built in a rock, Krishna Temple is really beautifully carved where you can read scriptures of Mahabharat and Ramayan in its beam. Lord Krishna is enshrined in the temple. We also visit Patan Durbar Square today. The palace gives complete understanding of Nepal’s history.

On this very day we drive to Bhaktapur, city of art and architecture. This city reached its peak during Malla dynasty. Lion’s Gate, 55-Window Palace and other temples are the main attraction of this place.

From here we drive to Nagarkot. It is less than an hour drive from Bhaktapur. While on the way you enjoy countryside Nepal. The sunset view from Nagarkot is really nice. Here you get opportunity to see eight ranges of mountains out of 13 mountains ranges existing in Nepal.
